Cultural Breakfast

Our Cultural Breakfasts are important community events that bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families, staff and community members together at Mascot Public School.

We hold a Cultural Breakfast once each term, providing regular opportunities throughout the year for families and our school community to come together, connect and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, identities and achievements.

They provide a relaxed and welcoming opportunity for families to spend time at school, connect with one another and build relationships with staff, students and community members.

Our Cultural Breakfasts include a shared breakfast and give an opportunity for yarning and conversations, cultural activities, student activities and opportunities to connect with members of our school and wider community.

When students see their family, culture and community welcomed and celebrated at school, it helps strengthen their sense of belonging and connection.

Cultural Breakfasts provide opportunities for students to:

• Connect with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
• Celebrate their culture and identity
• Develop positive relationships with staff and community
• See their families actively involved in school life
• Build confidence and a sense of belonging
• Celebrate their achievements and strengths

These events help create a school community where students can feel proud of who they are, connected to their culture and connected to Mascot Public School.
