Anti Bullying

Mascot Public School is dedicated to preventing and addressing bullying and fostering a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels respected, valued and protected. Bullying is defined as an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening. Bullying behaviour is repeated over time. Single incidents and conflict or fights between equals, whether in person or online, are not defined as bullying.

If bullying is reported at Mascot Public School, staff will gather facts by speaking with involved students and witnesses. If the bullying is confirmed, staff intervene, provide support to the victim, inform parents, and apply appropriate disciplinary actions. If the report is not confirmed, relevant students are educated and monitored. Finally, the situation is followed up, with ongoing support offered and outcomes documented.

If bullying is reported at Mascot Public School, staff will follow the flowchart below.
