The Early Years Learning Framework V 2.0, provides the curriculum for preschools across Australia. The framework guides the learning activities that we undertake in our preschool program and is underpinned by the five learning outcomes:
- Children have a strong sense of identity.
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
- Children have a strong sense of well-being.
- Children are confident and involved learners.
- Children are effective communicators.
The Framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning. Play is the best vehicle for young children's learning, as it provides the most appropriate stimulus for brain development. The education program aims to develop social, emotional and cognitive abilities and enhance language, creative and physical development. Experiences and activities are sequenced in order to build upon and extend skills and understandings.
Our daily routine includes both indoor and outdoor experiences with our educators supporting the children to make decisions about the activities they want to engage with. We provide children with opportunities to engage in high quality learning experiences that develop early language, literacy and numeracy skills, and help children to learn about the world around them.
The program enables educators to engage with children in learning through play, by promoting children’s abilities and using a project based approach which reflects children’s interests. We analyse children’s learning and development and support each child to reach their developmental goals.
Through play based experiences children will also develop independence and self-confidence, as well as learn how to get along with others.
